Top 10 name debuts in Ireland (1965-2017)

irelanddebuts

On this post, I will be sharing with you the baby names that had a good to excellent showing in their debut year, names that range heavily in themes from TV to music to religion.

In order for a name to appear on the Central Statistics Office’s data, it needs to be given to 3 babies or more in any given year stretching from 1964 to 2017. With regards to the names being put on this post, I am excluding names that reference an unnamed baby (the only one that I found being ‘Baby’) and those whose gender placement was somehow swapped out, particularly with regards to the section of data for the earliest years, like Florence (swapped to boys) and Ciaran (swapped to girls).

With that out of the way, let’s focus on the main point of this post, starting off with girl names. Kicking things off are the names that rank 10th in this list:

  • #1 (110 baby boys):

    • Karol (1979)
